Thongsbridge’s youngest stars were in action in the prestigious “Performance Club Challenge”, an event which takes place three times a year, involving the “mini” players from the top West Yorkshire tennis centres of Hull, Ilkley and Thongsbridge.

With a wealth of young talent at the club, Thongsbridge looked strong across the 3 age groups, and it was a stunning performance that saw the “mini red” (under 8s) team, and “mini orange” (under 9s) team play superb tennis to secure 1st place, with the “mini greens” (under 10s) narrowly losing out on the top spot, but coming a close second. The results over the age groups meant that Thongsbridge came 1st overall, with Ilkley coming second, and Hull third.

Charlotte Margetson, George Barton, and Jacob Chadwick also competed in the “Powder Byrne” tournament, an event that takes place over many months, involving youngsters from all over the country. Jacob gave a spirited performance, but was unlucky not to secure a win on this occasion, whilst Charlotte had a good win, and George, impressively, had 4 excellent wins, and a very narrow defeat.

The mini programme at Thongsbridge continues to flourish, with many of these talented juniors showing considerable promise for the future.
