On Saturday 29th June, Holly Horsfall travelled to Wimbledon for a VIP day, awarded for winning the doubles and runner-up in the singles in the Road to Wimbledon challenge 2012.
Holly started the day being met by Dan Bloxham, Headcoach of the All England tennis club, and given a tour of the whole facility. This included the ladies changing rooms which Holly said would pass as a 5 star hotel spa! Centre court, No.1 court and all the connecting tunnels were included on the tour. She bumped into Jonny Marray in the player’s lounge and he remembered her and his visit to Thongsbridge.
After the tour, Holly changed into her all whites and headed off to court 14 to play in a tennis clinic with Tim Henman and Dan Bloxham. This was in front of a packed stand and lasted for one hour. During the workshop Holly hit many rallies against Tim. On occasions the players went around the spectators along with Tim and interacted with them, one of whom was Thongsbridge’s youngster Robert Sandiford, who impressed Tim Henman with his co-ordination skills.
After the workshop, Holly was whizzed off to the press centre with her team mates to do several interviews for the HSBC Road to Wimbledon website.
A VIP lunch was then served at the Baseline restaurant followed by an afternoons entertainment on Centre Court!
Holly now has her name on the Roll of Honours board at Wimbledon along with Andrew Atkinson who won the doubles in 2010.
