Three great sporting events are set to take place in June and July this year and Thongsbridge Tennis Club is geared up to welcoming you and any friends to watch the live events as they unfold.

Fifa World Cup 2014

We will be showing all World Cup games in the Cafe/Bar during normal opening hours. So providing we are open (see website for full details) come down to watch Brazil, Germany, Chile, Ivory Coast, Japan and of course…. England.

Staff will be modelling the latest fashion football shirts of countries in the tournament, Ashlee will be providing nibbles and snacks for you to purchase. There might even be the odd competition or drinks promotion to entice you to use the club as your very own camp for this year’s World Cup.

There will also be a business/card draw to win a special FIFA World Cup football and a case of beer.

Wimbledon

Pimms, strawberries & cream and a selection of beers from around the world, so what is stopping you making an afternoon or evening relaxing in the Cafe/Bar to enjoy this year’s Wimbledon?

All games, during normal opening hours will be shown on the big screen TV’s with chilled wine, jugs of Pimms and an array of snacks to purchase.

The Grand Depart

With little over than a month to go, due to the various restrictions and road closures the Club has reviewed all options available and the possible risk versus financial benefit of staging an event/s over this weekend and is pleased to confirm that during this period the Club will be open to all members and friends as usual.

  • Clubhouse – Open as usual so if you want to come down to play tennis or use the gym you can.
  • Cafe/Bar – This will be open both the Saturday and Sunday open to members and non members for light snacks and bar drinks.
  • Bowling Club Car Park – An area of the Car Park will be used to site a mobile catering concession offering hot snacks: burgers, hot dogs, chips and a selection of cold drinks.

There will also be an ice-cream van on both days. This is to attract persons passing by, campers from the
Cricket Club and anyone else who may be tempted. Picnic benches will also be positioned in
the area. Opening times at the moment are scheduled to be Saturday 10-6 pm & Sunday 8 am – 6 pm.

Vehicular access to and from the Tennis Club will be unaffected, although extra care will be
needed when entering and exiting the car park, due to the possibility of pedestrian movement. A proportion of the income from the catering outlets will be paid to the Club. So the busier they are the more money the Club will make.

So why not come down to the Club and use it as your base for the day. Soak up the pre-event activities, watch the race go by then retire to the Club house to watch Wimbledon’s men’s final.

Full details and times will be posted on our website.
