Community wellbeing
It is probably not so well-known, but our local University of Huddersfield has several student supported services, which are also offered out to the community, and, thanks to its Health & Wellbeing Academy, we are pleased to be able to offer two of these to our members.
Get Set Goal is one of its initiatives that has been running for 4 years, delivering 4 main services across Kirklees and West Yorkshire with great success, this includes:
- Health checks – where fully trained health care students come and offer a quick health check including blood pressure!
- Workshops – a range of workshops for both adults and children on wellbeing topics.
- One to one coaching– 6 free one-to-one goal setting sessions for anyone over the age of 18.
- Restart a Heart training – this is a basic CPR training session which can be delivered to small or large groups including to children.
It has recently launched its Gait and Performance clinic, supported by sports students and based on the main campus, the Gait and Performance clinic can help you reach your performance goals.
The services our members can tap into at this stage are the One-to-one Coaching and the Gait and Performance Clinic as all other services only take place at events.
