Coaching

Thongsbridge Tennis Club offers a wide range of coaching programmes to suit different levels and standards of tennis players, from beginners to the more experienced and the very young to the more mature player.
Ages 3 - 4
Children can join from the age of 3 in Tiny Tots and if they are age 4 and have started school they can join in with Mini Red
Ages 5 - 10
From age 5 we have Mini tennis which is run comparable to a traffic light system based on both age and ability.
Mini Red starts at level 3 and progresses to level 1, ages 5 to 7
Mini Orange starts at level 3 and progresses to level 1, ages 8 and 9
Mini Green for age 10
Ages 10 - 17
After this players are moved into the "Junior" groups (10-16 years) and again progress from Junior 1 through to Junior 2 & 3. We also have Junior groups available for anyone who has not played tennis before and is too old for the Mini tennis programme – Junior Stars.
Alongside these courses, the club runs invitational groups for those players that show potential to become future champions!
Adults
There are groups available for the adults too, ranging from beginners to the more advanced player, starting at Beginners 2 and finishing at Advanced.
Do I need to be a member?
You can enrol for one "Block" of coaching without joining the Club, but thereafter all adults and children joining the coaching groups are required to become members. . Membership is not required for the under 5's.
What if a class is full?
In the event that there is not room on a course required level, the Club operates a waiting list system. It is sometimes necessary to perform an assessment with potential Junior and Adult coaching members. This takes the format of a 10-20 minute hitting session with one of the coaches who will then inform reception which group / waiting list you should be added to. Please ask at reception for further details.
How much does it cost?
Prices for all courses can be found on the enclosed Coaching Programme. The programme mirrors the 6 school half terms starting with Block 1 in September and finishing with Block 6 from June to the summer holidays. Prices therefore vary depending upon the length of the half term and if there are any additional holidays e.g. May Day Bank Holiday.
How do I book one-on-one lessons?
Individual lessons should be booked directly with the coaches themselves. A list of coaches, contact numbers and their individual lesson rate can be found on the reverse of the programme time-tables.
