A little help goes a long way…
I’m sure there isn’t a member of the Holme Valley community that hasn’t had their own struggle at some point or other, and knowing we have a great network around us helps us through. Some of you may have heard and may be following the journey of a young lady by the name of Eden, just six years old and diagnosed with a Neuroblastoma, a very rare but aggressive cancer.
Eden lives in the Holme Valley and not only her immediate community but the whole of Kirklees is behind a monumental effort to raise the vital funds she needs to get treatment.
Here at Thongsbridge, we would love to get behind this huge push and as such will be organising a Thongsbridge Tennis & Fitness Holme Valley Relay Marathon! We would like to encourage as much participation as possible, from kids to adults, so have carved the route up into 26 segments of one mile each (plus the 0.2 that we will give to the strongest legs!).
If we have more members wishing to participate, we can switch to kilometres and increase the number of runners to 42. The fun run will be relay style, literally with baton in hand – so we suggest younger kids may need an adult to run alongside them.
Let’s do this folks. This little lady deserves every shot at fighting her fight and we can help this to happen. Details of the fundraising element to follow, but essentially will be around a sponsorship approach. We will provide a link to facilitate this in due course. The date of this event is Sunday 3rd July. Timings to be confirmed.
