Thongsbridge junior, Chloe Chawner, has given her ranking points a boost, with a successful day of tennis in Loughborough, where 3 superb wins saw her take the winner’s medal in the under 12s tournament. She followed her success with another good win in a match play event in Sheffield.

Meanwhile, Barney Fitzpatrick was flying the flag for the Thongsbridge boys, competing in a higher grade under 10s event in Hull. He was in sparkling form, losing only 4 games in 5 matches, to emphatically take top spot, beating club mate Oliver Vesely in the final.

Georgia Draper and Lucy Margetson played the girls’ under 10s Regional Tour event in Sheffield, both securing some excellent wins, and Lucy also won 2 matches in a Batley competition.

In the under 9s, Jacob Chadwick and George Barton were in action in Leeds, coming an impressive 7th and 8th respectively in a tough draw, whilst Charlotte Margetson had 2 wins out of 5 matches in Warrington.

In the older age groups, Kim Atkinson and Holly Horsfall gained entry into the high grade British Tour Event in Nottingham, where they both managed a solid win against high quality opposition.

With half term approaching, the youngsters are looking strong for some of the National level tournaments and open events, and will be hoping to increase their medal counts!
