Fun, skill…and competitive edge!
Ahead of an evening of awards and celebrations, last Saturday afternoon welcomed a whopping 56 players, comprising juniors, parents, friends and relatives who took to the courts to battle it out in our 2025 sponge ball tournament!
The afternoon started with efficient court set up (thank you Seb, Fia, Guy, and Junior Committee) transforming our indoor space ready to welcome our doubles teams. Whilst Kate gave a great explanation of the rules, a demonstration was provided before each team headed to their court with their mini rackets and competitive mindset!
What followed was a brilliant example of how this club brings out the best of our community; fun, laughter and great sportsmanship. It was an afternoon of pure enjoyment, which allowed families and friends to come together with many a grandparent grasping the opportunity to see their own kids and grandkids take to court for a couple of hours of family fun.
Winners from each group made it through to two closely fought semi-finals, before finalists, Guy and dad John battled it out against brothers Oscar and Lucas, with the dad/son combo finally taking the top spot! Huge congrats to those guys and to everyone who took part, helping to make this club what it is – an incredible community of supportive folk. Here’s to the next one! Rackets at the ready…
