TTFC Social Scene!

It’s been a busy year so far and our membership numbers are continually climbing for both tennis and fitness, which has been great to see. As promised, now we are all settled back into a routine of ‘normal’ life, we are busy getting a few social events organised and back into the calendar. We will aim to provide something for everyone at various stages throughout the year and always welcome ideas for future events, so please get in touch if there is a specific event you would like to see included in your club’s social calendar.

Here’s a snapshot of our initial plans to start the ball rolling:

2022

Thongsbridge Open, sponsored by Eastwood Private Clients & Eastwood Financial Services

Taking place from 14th – 20th August, our annual Grade 3 event welcomes all players from far and wide! With over 500 matches taking place across the week, there’s a fair amount of logistics for Georgina and the team to complete, so please enter before the deadline of 31st July, which is fast approaching. Please also note that due to a technical issue with the LTA website currently, if you are planning to enter both The Thongsbridge Open as well as The Yorkshire Championships, please ensure you enter The Thongsbridge Open FIRST. As there is some overlap of dates, once you have entered the Yorkshire Championships, the system will no longer allow entry into the Thongsbridge tournament. Georgina is on the case and hopefully this will get resolved.  You can enter the tournament by clicking here.

Each day of the tournament will close out with a barbecue to help replace the protein! We’re looking forward to a fantastic week! See you there!

Junior Night

For the first time, we will continue to run Junior night each Friday from 6pm until the October half term break. We have had much feedback from parents expressing interest from children who are keen to join in this fun session but due to other summer term commitments, struggle to make it. So, we hear you! Let’s see if the September and early October weeks make it possible for more kids to pop down. The barbecue will continue to run from 6pm and the happy hour(s) – offering 20% off all cold drinks – will also continue to run from 6pm – 9pm. No need to book. See you there!

1st October – Junior Presentation Evening

An evening of celebration to acknowledge the efforts and achievements of our junior members. This is always an upbeat, positive evening that recognises both kids and parents for everything they contribute to bringing the best out of these younger players. We will be communicating more about the details of the evening when the plans are in place.

15th October – Wine Tasting/Call My Bluff

A fantastic and popular evening of fun, guesswork, insight and some cracking grape juice! This may take the form of a more traditional wine-tasting event, exploring various grapes with the ‘education’ courtesy of an invited expert. Or…we may opt for a more interactive ‘Call My Bluff’ style evening of discovery! Whichever route this goes, it promises to be a fantastic night of relaxation and fine wine in great company.

26th November – A Christmas Special

Getting ourselves into the Christmas spirit, we have two sessions planned for this day. The morning will consist of a hosted guide to creating the most stunning bespoke Christmas decorations for your home or for gifts. Whilst the afternoon will be a wreath-making session, ensuring your home has the perfect festive welcome for all! These activities can be booked independent of each other, there is no requirement to attend both sessions. The morning lends itself to both adults and children, whilst the afternoon activity may be trickier for smaller hands, but they can certainly help the grown-ups!

17th December – Junior members Christmas party!

The big man makes a return! Join in some festive fun as the schools break and the kids are counting down the days. Fun sporting challenges, festive fayre and a visit from the chap in red and a little gift to take home.

2023

Advance notice for our 2023 Mid-Summer Ball.

On 24th June 2023, TTFC will be hosting a stunning black-tie event, here at the club. For those who remember the Centenary Ball, you will be familiar with this style of evening. Many members, however, didn’t get chance to secure tickets on that occasion as they were so popular. So, this time, we are going bigger! A beautifully draped marquee, positioned on the indoor courts will be the venue for the evening, which will start with reception drinks followed by an exquisite three-course meal, created by an award-winning guest chef. We will have two live sets from the amazing Dominic Halpin & The Honey B’s – experts at getting everyone to the dancefloor! Then a DJ set to see us into the early hour(s)! Time to get the glad rags out!

Tickets are priced at £100 per person and tables will be seated in 10’s. Any number of tickets can be purchased, and we will help plan the tables as necessary. As with all events of this size and scope, we would like to keep a close eye on the numbers, so if you do think this is heading into your diary for next year, please click below to provide us with an indication of interest. There is no financial commitment expected at this stage.

I am interested in attending the Mid-Summer Ball 2023.
