Big-hearted efforts from fellow members
We are regularly reminded just how big-hearted our members are and this week we hear another wonderful story of going that extra mile for others. Fellow members Denise, Chris and Karen, keen crafters and members of the Holmfirth WI, have been busy thinking of ways to help raise funds to enable the purchase of a defibrillator for the people of Holmfirth.
The WI craft group meets on the first Monday of each month at the club, so with their best crafting heads on, the ladies have created a beautiful range of Valentine cards, gift labels, lavender bags, knitted hearts and other items. Denise and one other lady have taken on a sponsored challenge to craft 66 hearts! Whilst these are all perfect gift ideas for next month’s Valentine’s Day, these beautiful items will continue to be sold right through to September.
There are currently 13 defibrillators in Holmfirth, but statistics prove, the closer you are when suffering a cardiac event, the better your chances of making a good recovery. However, they don’t come cheap; each defibrillator costs in the region of £1500.
So, let’s get behind this big-hearted effort folks and help push towards that total and secure more life-saving kit for the folk of Holmfirth. You can buy items or donate to Denise’s efforts at reception.
